Wavemaker brokers Mitsubishi Motors and Melbourne International Comedy Festival deal

Mitsubishi Motors has been announced as the official automotive partner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2021 via Wavemaker.

The announcement:

Mitsubishi Motors has worked with Wavemaker to launch a new partnership with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as the Official Automotive Partner for 2021, as it launches the new Eclipse Cross.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival is triumphantly returning to reconnect artists and audiences after a less than hilarious 2020, which saw many comedians go an entire year without performance opportunities.

The partnership with Mitsubishi is making tickets much more affordable this year and in an effort to give back to the Arts and Entertainment industry of Melbourne and support and recognise the importance of performance, Mitsubishi will be offering reduced price tickets to patrons, while taking on the cost gap for the artists.

The new Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage Tickets offer will see tickets to Festival shows sold to the public for $20 but with a sale price of $30 per ticket passed on to participating shows/artists. So, Mitsubishi is giving audiences the discount, while supporting artists to get back up on stage.

But it doesn’t end there. To celebrate the release of the brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Melbourne Comedy Festival and Mitsubishi will launch an online competition Here Now For Wherever Next, offering the chance to win an ultimate Victorian getaway. Running throughout the Festival, the competition will provide two lucky winners with tickets to the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow, accommodation and dinner – plus the use of a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for the weekend.

The Festival will have its own Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Comedy Convoy out on the road, helping to bring the much-loved Festival back to Melbourne. If you spot one of the co-branded Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Comedy Convoy cars out on the streets, scan the QR code for your chance to win tickets!

Shaun Westcott, Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s CEO said, “Mitsubishi Motors is very proud to partner with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and support incredible comic talent. Last year was a really tough year for Australians, including those in the arts and entertainment industry. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival gives us the opportunity to put a smile back on our faces, and have a much-needed laugh.”

Peter Vogel, CEO of Wavemaker, says: “At Wavemaker, we help our clients grow fearlessly and take on new opportunities to connect with their consumers in engaging and emotional environments. Working with Mitsubishi, its dealer network and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to bring some much-needed laughter back to Melbourne is a fantastic way to bring life-enriching moments to existing and future customers, and showcase the new Eclipse Cross.”

The partnership was brokered by Wavemaker and is being amplified across Digital, Social, Outdoor, Radio and Owned channels

Damien Hodgkinson, Executive Director, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, said, “We are really excited to have Mitsubishi on board as a major partner this year. The way they have wanted to support the industry and give back to the artists is wonderful.”

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival runs from 24 March – 18 April, delivering COVIDSafe laughs and comedy good-times to Melburnians and the world, on stage and online. Mitsubishi Diamond Advantage Tickets will be available through the Festival’s website, with new tickets available each Monday of the Festival from Monday 22 March. All the much-loved annual events are back – along with hundreds of shows. Venues will operate in a COVIDSafe environment, with plenty of work being done to make audiences safe and comfortable as they enjoy some much-needed laughs.
