Welcome, Radar Radio

Austereo has officially launched its new radio station, which will be focusing on undiscovered Australian music. Originally with the working title of Super Fresh, the station name is Radar Radio.

The launch of Radar is the first move in what will be a wave of new ventures in the coming months as Australia’s radio industry gets ready for its long awaited a official launch to digital radio next May.

Although there are virtually no DAB+ enabled radios in the country yet, test broadcasting, including Radar Radio, has begun. The station is also available via the web.

At last night’s launch, Austereo CEO Michael Anderson said of Radar: “This is an incredibly exciting venture not just for listeners but for the hundreds of undiscovered bands in Australia yearning for airplay.”

Radar’s web site has a high level of functionality, including allowing listeners to find out more about the bands, and for artists to upload their music directly to the station.
