Westfield Chermside invites street artists and skaters into store
Westfield Chermside in Queensland partnered with Brisbane creative-experiential agency The Playground to invite street artists and skaters into the shopping centre as it turned an area into both a skate park and creative studio.
The campaign saw street artists and skaters run workshops and classes as Westfield and The Playground embraced the connection between skateboarding and street art.
For Westfield, the aim of the activation was to increase footfall over the winter school holidays with the activation taking place from June 26 to July 13.
Up and coming Gold Coast skater Mikey Mendoza said in a statement: “ Skate and Create is honestly the most unique skating event I’ve ever been to…the kids that are coming here are passionate about skateboarding, they are passionate about the sport and that’s what I’m here to help them with.”
The Playground said 2,500 kids participated in the event.
