What’s going on with the Tap project?
Our pals at B&T Today are carrying an interesting ad in their newsletter this afternoon. It’s for Dave Droga’s Tap project, which is looking for an agency to kick start the scheme in Australia.
I managed to slip into a session at the Cannes festival back in June where Droga talked inspiringly about how the project came about. Basically, restaurants are asked to add a small additional cost onto diners’ bills for the cost of a glass of tap water. This cash goes, via Unicef, to helping provide drinkable water where it isn’t easily available.
So good, so right-on. But a bizarre row has broken out over on Campaign Brief. The blog is mightily offended on behalf of Droga5 Sydney that the agency hasn’t just been automatically handed the pro bono gig. (The blog is famed in the industry for its, erm, closeness to Droga5 creative bigwig in Sydney David Nobay, by the way).
Agency egoes. Kerrrrist…
