Wild Turkey Bourbon asks viewers ‘what are you bringing to the table’ in new TVC
Wild Turkey Bourbon has launched a nine-month TV campaign fronted by a suave, tattooed drinker with an eastern European telling viewers “Let’s talk about you”.
The 30-second slot, which is showing on free to air, pay TV, digital and social media, features a man revealing a series of dates tattooed on his arm and badly shuffling a pack of cards, before pouring two glasses of bourbon.
He then says: “So that’s me, let’s talk about you”.
The AJF Partnership’s ad, which runs alongside a national outdoor campaign and the brand’s sponsorship of the NRL Super Saturday, closes with the words ‘What are you bringing to the table?”
Campari Australia marketing director Nicole Stanners said the ad reflects a “real and earnest” quality that Wild Turkey fans will relate to.
“This campaign and latest TVC aims to cut through the clutter of well trodden narratives and entertain the viewer while provoking subtle reflection,” she said.
AJF Partnership associate creative director Simon Edwards, added: “Although featuring just one guy, this inherently social campaign gets us thinking about the choices that defines us in life.”

I get that you’re trying to be cool, but I just don’t get it.
I certainly didn’t think about the choices that define me in life after seeing this.

What’s to get? I presume it’s asking me what I’d bring to a conversation?
It actually made me think and for that I really like it.

Can anybody tell me the actor’s name in the “let’s talk about you” Wild Turkey ad. I’ve seen him in Films.

Still makes no sense

His name is Timothy Murphy. In the version I am seeing there is no tattoos…just a broken lanyard type clip

It made us make up ridiculous stories of the man such as the tattoos represent every time he has divorced, the broken shackle is a sign he has broken away from the old ball and chain and that the cards represent him being a gambler which could be the reasoning behind so many divorces.. just not wild turkey about it…

It’d a carabiner for rock climbing, he’s s risk taker in other words…

Well, if you have aired this ad to gain attention and provoke controversy you certainly have achieved your purpose. I as a 60 something well travelled & life experienced person could not “get it”. My 28 year old son had the idea that the tattoos on his arm where all the times that he has rock climbed the same mountain and still trying to conquer it. That would “make sense” of the clip, lock thing that he is holding. I was very impressed with my son’s theory, whether it is true or not, I would prefer to believe he’s theory as it would portray the man to have challenged himself to achieve he’s ultimate goal.

The Wild Turkey ad depicts an Assassin. The dates on his arm are like notches in his belt. The broken carabiner represents deal. That’s how the cards fall. Simple really. Ask me anything…I am….”Smooth As”

If I was a betting man I would say the dates are of failed marriages, the carabiner clip is a reminder of how he survived a climbing incident, and the cards represent his poor gambling choices….he brings nothing but luck and a good story to the table.

every time I see this commercial I always think he is a climber because of the Carabiner and the dates represent something that he has done … like climb Mount Everest ?… because You wouldn’t just put dates on yourself unless it is important and meant something ….

What the f@@k is it about though

I always figured the dates were deaths of climbing friends and the broken carabiner shows how he survived a ‘big’ one. The card shuffling seems counterintuitive for a guy who seems so cool he can cheat death. Good accent

The dates on the arm are usually birthdays of children. He’s got five kids.
The broken carabiner is a near death experience and the cards show he likes to gamble, but couldn’t really care about the outcome as the cards end up all over the place.

How is the guy Eastern European? He’s Irish and not trying to hide his accent.

It’s quite simple, tattos represent his 5 children, the carabeiner shows he’s taken risks and cheated death and the pack of cards shows he a gambler from way back(aged cards) and has lost all his money doing so.

Stupid add. I don’t even care what it’s about anymore.
