Will the SMH’s ‘See you next year’ promise come good?
To last night’s newspaper of the year awards, organised by the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers Association.
And the SMH could perhaps be forgiven for a little hubris. Although Dr Mumbo does wonder whether the promise to be back on the stage next year will prove to be one that editor Peter Fray regrest if it doesn’t come true.
Still, the paper itself moved fast, and is today already carrying the Newspaper of the Year tag on its masthead.
Meanwhile Dr Mumbo was delighted to see that despite the tough time the ABC’s Media Watch gives to News Ltd titles, presenter Jonathan Holmes was happily bonding with Murdoch’s men out on the smokers’ balcony.
