Winners of the 2023 Mumbrella Awards revealed

Howatson+Company has cemented itself as the leading agency in Australia, taking home Creative, Independent and Emerging Agency of the Year at the 2023 Mumbrella Awards.

The agency also won Best Use of Retail Media for its 35+ campaign for Lord Nelson Brewery.

The jury said: “Howatson+Company has earned this recognition and accolade.

“It is their determination, commitment and drive that edged them in front on this occasion. They have grit,” the jury continued.

“This is the start of a truly big deal in the advertising landscape that, if what Chris Howatson says is true, will last for decades to come.”

Match & Wood was named the Media Agency of the Year, while Eleven took home PR Agency of the Year.

“For Match & Wood, being small has been an advantage,” said the jury.

“They truly live up to their moniker – ‘The silent assassins’.”

CHEP Network won Full Service Agency of the Year, while its Flipvertising work for Samsung Australia took home Media Campaign of the Year.

The campaign also received a highly commended for Ad Campaign of the Year, which was won by Special‘s Last Performance campaign.

The Trade Desk won Sales Team of the Year in what the jury described “an exceptionally tough category with a number of excellent entries”.

The General Store has taken home Specialist Agency of the Year, with Principals receiving a highly commended. Akcelo won Promo or Experiential Agency of the Year.

This is Flow‘s founder and CEO, Jimmy Hyett, has been crowned the Industry Leader of the Year, while Dalton Henshaw, founder and CEO of Bullfrog was named the Under-30 Achiever of the Year.

The jury said: “Jimmy is an authentic and exciting leader.

“Navigating the challenging journey of start-up to scale up, Jimmy has demonstrated excellence through commercial acumen and industry leading people and culture initiatives.”

The jury described Hyett as a “humble and deserving winner of industry leader” due to his “clear and strategic vision on how to differentiate his business and offering”.

Other winning agencies included M&C Saatchi Group, VMLY&R, ntegrity and VaynerMedia.
