Bondi Hipsters, Bullock and Shortland among winners in Australian Directors Guild Awards

Tim Bullock won the award for Best Direction in a TV Commercial while Christiaan and Connor Van Vuuren won Best Direction in an Original Online Project for the Bondi Hipsters in the Australian Directors Guild Awards.

Bullock’s work on the DDB New Zealand’s Old Flatties ad for Westpac captured him the the award.

Christiaan and Connor Van Vuuren, aka the Van Vuuren Bros, were awarded an ADG for Directing the continuing series on the lives of “Bondi Hipsters”.

The top award of the night went to Cate Shortland for her work on feature film Lore.

  • Cate Shortland – Best Direction in a Feature Film – for Lore
  • Rachel Perkins – Best Direction in a TV Drama Series – for Redfern Now (Pretty Boy Blue)
  • Jessica Hobbs – Best Direction in a TV Mini Series – for Devil’s Dust
  • Glendyn Ivin – Best Direction in a Telemovie – for Beaconsfield
  • Jessica Reddenbach- Best Direction in a Short Film – for Tender
  • Jennifer Peedom – Best Direction in a Documentary Series – for Life at 7
  •  Grace McKenzie – Best Direction in a Documentary Feature – for Audrey Of The Alps
  • Madeleine Parry – Best Direction in a Documentary (Stand Alone) for Meatwork
  • Daniel Nettheim Esben Storm Award – Best Direction in a Children’s TV Program – for Dance Academy Series 2, Ep 25 “The Second”
  • Nash Edgerton – Best Direction in a Music Video – for Duqesne Whistle
  • Adrian Goodman – Best Direction in a Student Film – for Wakey Wakey
  • David Gould – Best Direction in a TV Drama Serial – for Home and Away episode 5438
  • Dario Russo – Best Direction in a TV Comedy – for Danger 5
  • David Barker – Best Direction in a Cross Platform Project – for Bad Reality
  • A special award, acknowledging the career achievement of a First Assistant Director, was also presented to industry favourite Jamie Leslie.
