X Factor and The Event take Seven to Monday win

Seven’s The X Factor moved back above 1m on Monday while the first episode of its sci-fi mystery thriller The Event managed a similar number.

While The X Factor’s 1.126m was an improvement on last week’s 978,000, it was without last week’s tough competition of The Brownlow Medal on Ten.

The previous Monday to that, The X Factor delivered 1.234m.

Meanwhile, The Event, fast tracked from ther US, launched into the same slot that Seven gave the now cancelled US sci-fi mystery Flash Forward at exactly the same point last year. Last night saw The Event deliver 1.083m, compared to Flash Forward’s 1.8m last year. However, Flash Forward, since cancelled in the US, had been promoted harder.

Seven’s schedule was enough to comfortably win the night, in part because of the dismal performance of Hot In Cleveland which rated 791,000 for Nine in the 8pm slot.

Ten’s series debut of Undercover Boss rated exactly 1m, according to the overnight preliminary metro figures from OzTam.

Meanwhile Seven’s new digital channel 7Mate had its first victory over its sibling 7Two, rating 2.1% to 2%.
