X Factor enjoys audience bump for first part of final
Channel Seven’s X- Factor became the most-watched non-news program of the night in the absence of competition from reality rivals, in the first part of its grand final.
The singing contest saw 665,000 tune in from 8pm, up on last week’s 559,000, when the show was dwarfed by the finale of The Block, according to OzTam overnight metro ratings.
The channel had better news for its Sunday Night show airing at 7pm which managed 766,000 viewers, beating Nine’s Christmas with the Australian Women’s Weekly in the timeslot which dropped from last years 797,000 to 625,000.
It also pulled a bigger audience than Nine’s 60 Minutes which aired at 8pm and managed 727,000 viewers.

In the 6pm news battleground, Seven achieved the largest audience of the night with 963,000 while Nine drew 835,000.
In audience share Seven’s main channel managed 19.3%, and Nine followed with 18%, followed by ABC on 12.8% and Ten in fourth which managed just 9% of the share.
I honesty believe the whole music industry business aspect of it, is finished, im not so sure you could even call it the music business anymore, look at it this way, a good proportion of the winners from x-factor perhaps even the voice too, sell only slightly higher then 35000 albums, yes a couple of singers sell a little more then 75000 but let’s focus on the majority, right. Now though not this season of x-factor however the rest of its running cycle has seen viewers from one million to over two million but only 35000 albums sold ? why is that ? well first things first you can blame the labels for allowing there music to be freely listened to on youtube ? no the strategy of allowing commercials running before the song plays isn’t good enough, then you can blame Spotify $10 a month to listen to every song you almost ever wanted to, it takes 1500 people to listen to one song to be considered one song sold ?? and that song sells for $1.30 cents on iTunes ?? could have song 1500 of those digital songs, now ITunes ? the music labels should have invented this not a computer company that takes a percentage price out. This Structure of the music business couldn’t get any worse, they should be selling albums for 20 to 30 dollars, not songs for %10 of a one cent. Ultimately how could one have the enthusiasm to spend five years learning and playing a guitar with a 0.5% chance of making it where as you could spend five years at university or getting a apprenticeship ? simplified, enthusiasm up taking music these days from people is very low, hence the very low evolution of the sound of music which is why the majority of new music sucks. Perhaps we are listening to music these days more then ever because its so easily accessible, but at what price ? the majority don’t buy music yet there not fussy about buying a five dollar happy meal.
