Younger audiences enjoy Ten’s Gogglebox but Seven’s Good Doctor attracts biggest audience

More young Australians tuned into Ten’s Gogglebox than Seven’s Good Doctor last night, despite the drama’s success in OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings.

Running in the same time slot, Seven’s Good Doctor captured 986,000 metro viewers while Ten’s Gogglebox managed 602,000.

But Gogglebox dominated the key advertising demographics – the 16-39s, 18-49s and 25-54s –  with 168,000 tuning in from the 16-39 demographic, and 324,000 from the 18-49s.

The Good Doctor won the 25-54s demographic with 386,000 viewers tuning in.

Nine’s show in the same time slot – The Truth About Healthy Eating – sat outside of the top 20.

Earlier on in the evening, Seven’s Home and Away – which ran from 7pm to 8:30pm was the most viewed entertainment program, with 604,000 metro viewers.

The show beat Family Food Fight on Nine – which fell below 500,000 to 442,000 metro viewers last night, and Ten’s Cram which finished with an average audience of 400,000.

In news, Seven beat Nine with 877,000 and 843,000 metro viewers respectively, while the ABC’s news program captured 696,000.

SBS show Great British Railway Journeys made the top 20 last night, with 348,000 metro viewers.

Looking to the average audience shares, Seven snatched another win at 21.9%. In second was Nine with 15.8% tuning in last night, ahead of Ten’s 14%, ABC’s 9.4% and SBS’ 5.9%.
