BCM opens an art gallery in its offices

Brisbane agency BCM has opened an art gallery within its premises after securing a deal with Artisan Gallery.

The announcment:

Brisbane agency BCM has today announced a creative partnership with Artisan Gallery which will see a fully operational art gallery built in BCM’s Fortitude Valley agency.  BCM’s gallery will be called ‘Crucible.’ A purpose built gallery space starts construction this week and is designed by renowned architects Donovan Hill.

The gallery will host 4 exhibitions per year which will be curated by Tasha Finn who has been appointed as an ‘Emerging Curator’ by Artisan and BCM.  Tasha holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Art History.  In her relatively short career so far, Tasha has worked in both public and private galleries in South-East Queensland preparing exhibitions with artists who work in a variety of media.

BCM will also curate its own art exhibitions throughout the year. BCM staff will have the chance to submit ideas for exhibitions and ultimately be appointed as a ‘Guest Curator’ for that exhibition.

The agency has formed a long-term creative partnership with Artisan Gallery which, in addition to the in-agency gallery will include ‘meet the maker’ sessions where the agency team will meet artists over breakfast or a drink to learn more about their inspiration, creative process and to share ideas.

Artisan Gallery is the peak body in Queensland presenting and promoting unique and individual quality craft and design to an Australian and international audience.  Artisan presents exhibitions of high calibre and ilk situating art, craft and design, within our culture, time, and place. The gallery program profiles innovation and expertise in both conceptual resolution and technical brilliance.

The first exhibition launches with the official opening of the BCM Crucible Gallery early in the New Year.

“We believe this to be the first of its kind” commented BCM Agency Partner, Paul Cornwell.

“We’re really excited about broadening our creative perspective via this gallery and partnership with Artisan. Exhibits will range in nature from jewellery, furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, fashion, textiles, paperware, leather goods, and interior products”.

“Clients and visitors to the agency will be able to tour the gallery. Students will be invited to special events.  BCM staff will be able to run meetings and workshops within the gallery as it will be set up with a functional yet relaxed meeting space” said Cornwell.

“It will be a terrific hub of creativity in the agency. We already have many bookings for the space. It will really foster idea generation and thought leadership” added BCM Agency Partner, Kevin Moreland.

The Crucible in-agency gallery is one of a range of ‘firsts’ that BCM plans to introduce over the next twelve months.

The concept was unveiled to the BCM team at a breakfast this morning at additional space the agency has taken as it continues to grow.  The 80+ agency team gathered for breakfast and discussed future plans for BCM.  Each team member tackled a creative challenge where they had 15 minutes to create a unique artwork.   This ‘fast art’ exercise resulted in an outpouring of creativity and the work will be permanently displayed in the agency.
