Happy six month birthday, Convergence Review. Wake up, slacker Steve
A note to media minister Stephen Conroy:
It’s six months today since the Convergence Review reported. Not that you seem to have done anything with it yet.
Next month it will be five years since you got the job.
Last time there were serious reforms of the media regulations was in 1992. You know, 20 years ago, before we got the internet.
Now I’m aware that you’re probably tired from digging trenches for the NBN.
And I know it’s always awkward annoying the big media owners. Particularly when there’s an election coming up.
But just a small request.
How about you get off your backside and do some legislating?
Thanks.

Maybe he’s more effective (harmless) doing nothing. Fortunately when the Govt gets involved it always works out perfectly.

And sadly, compared to previous Ministers he has going at breakneck speed!

Yes, yes, yes, I do see that there is a real dilemma here. In that, while it has been government policy to regard policy as a responsibility of Ministers and administration as a responsibility of Officials, the questions of administrative policy can cause confusion between the policy of administration and the administration of policy, especially when responsibility for the administration of the policy of administration conflicts, or overlaps with, responsibility for the policy of the administration of policy.

Unless there is a baby involved this is not going to get kissed!

so so true. When he got the portfolio he declared he didn’t know how to define Digital Economy. Not much has changed.

Listen you bunch of advertising fairy wankers. Leave Steve alone, we are all working hard on some big union projects on how to get the right funds in the right hands. And we have been working out where to put the right “Slush Funds”.
Any objections, come see me. Number’s in the book.
