Nic Cola to head Fairfax’s digital transactions unit

Nic ColaFairfax Digital chief operating officer Nic Cola is to head up the company’s new digital transactions unit.

The move comes as part of the ongoing restructure of Fairfax Media.

Fairfax Digital’s CEO Jack Matthews has already been promoted to run the company’s metro division – covering print and online for the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. And Brett Clegg was announced today as boss of the Financial Review Group.

Cola’s role will see him become CEO of Marketplaces, responsible for the company’s digital transactions and classified advertising businesses.  

His appointment was announced by Fairfax Media CEO Greg Hywood. Hywood said: “Our classified and transaction businesses – Drive, MyCareer, Domain, RSVP, Stayz, InvestSmart, OMG, Australian Property Monitors, Commerce Australia, TenderLink and the recently acquired Occupancy – are a significant component of our strategy.

“As I have signalled, we will be growing our digital transaction division through organic growth and acquisition in the years ahead.”
