Sphere Agency strips player of his tattoos in spoof for Seven
The AFL’s most heavily inked high-profile player Dane Swan was cleaned of his all-covering tattoos in a stunt for Seven’s Saturday Night Football conceived by The Sphere Agency.
Swan, who plays for Collingwood, appeared clean skinned in the stunt sponsored by Veil Tattoo Camouflage Cream and negotiated by Greta Donaldson Publicity.
Dane agreed to take part on the condition his fee be donated to the youth charity, the N.I.C.K. Foundation for which Dane is an ambassador.
Michael Abdul, Managing Director of The Sphere Agency, said: “This was sort of a morph between PR and experiential and the beauty about it is that there was a demonstration of the uniqueness of the quality of the product.
Before and after pictures from the stunt appeared in The Herald Sun and the story became one of the most viewed on the Melbourne newspaper’s website.

Collingwood player Dane Swan before and after
I saw this on the weekend. Very good
As an execution this is great. Covers all channels for great bang for buck; uses popular talent for cross demographic appeal and to top it off, money went to charity. Smart. Very smart. Well done Sphere.
All those AFL players were bogan central. Much better when they don’t talk.
Yummmmmm – why doesn’t my agency have this account?
I don’t understand why anyone would bother doing this…

EXCELLENT
Well done Sphere, excellent work! This talks up the brand attributes, does it in a rational way, with some funny outcomes.
