Vevo launches new radio show on Today’s Hit Network to expand the brand

Vevo PlanetVideo hosting service Vevo is taking its brand to the radio with a new show set to hit the airwaves nationally this weekend, Mumbrella can reveal.

Southern Cross Austereo’s recently rebranded Today’s Hit Network, Planet Vevo will be hosted by 2DayFM breakfast team Dan & Maz.

Authentic Entertainment, who represent Vevo in Australia, is also set to launch two other new shows across the network, with the first called The Drop to be be hosted by Marty Smiley and 2012 Big Brother contestant Michael Beveridge.

The move follows Southern Cross Austereo’s partnership with music identification service Shazam for a radio show called the Shazam Top 20 in October last year.

Authentic Entertainment CEO John Wardley said:“Our aim is to deliver innovative radio shows that build loyal communities of listeners. Planet Vevo is a worldwide first and The Drop puts a stamp of authority on the Australian dance community.

“This will be huge year for original content at Authentic Entertainment across digital and broadcast.”

Planet Vevo will air on Sundays from 2pm to 5pm and will offer listeners exclusive content, interviews, news and performances and has been specifically developed for the market by Authentic Entertainment’s creative team.

The show draws on Vevo properties such as Lift, which celebrates fresh talent, and Certified, which focuses on the world’s biggest music videos with over 100m views each, as well as featuring local content segments including Drop-in Studio, Music Runner and In-flight.

The Drop will celebrate electronic dance music and will air on Fridays from 10pm to 1am and on Saturdays from 6pm to midnight.

It will debut tomorrow, January 24, with Planet Vevo launching on Sunday, January 25. Authentic Entertainment are yet to announce details of the third radio program.
