Wikileaks – a nice little earner?
Like many, Dr Mumbo is jealous of Fairfax for its access to the Wikileaks cables.
And of course, the media company has been making the most of the content.
There is, for instance, an extensive Wikileaks section within The Age and Sydney Morning Herald websites.
Although the source of the leaks was indeed via a website, the stories have of course been mostly political.
Yet curiously, all of the stories are being hosted within the websites’ technology sections.
Clearly this is a purely editorial judgement call, and entirely unrelated to the fact that advertising CPMs for tech content are typically ten to 20 times higher than on other site pages.
an interesting thought …
What I’m struggling to get my head around is how Assanage can go off at his ‘friends in the media’ who leaked details of his pending court case.
http://tiny.cc/3j63x
How does that work? Isn’t Assanage now a public figure of interest? Aren’t the details of his court case relevant to the public interest given what’s at stake?
Or is that story about his outburst just a ‘media beat up’?

Yes, but do the Wiki Leaks cables autoplay? A fairfax insider told me their readers prefer autoplay…

I wonder how Fairfax sells this to their clients ??? It may not surprise anybody that potential conflict in the middle east (World news surely !?!) also finds a home in Technology on Fairfax http://www.smh.com.au/technolo.....193f3.html
How is this appropriate tagging and archiving ! IMO its deceptive conduct.

Well spotted, Mumbo.
Fairfax has no shame when it comes to these sorts of things – this is a bit like the online equivalent of the circulation rorts you have covered so well.
