3AW loyal listeners get a Mornings wake up with Ray Hadley

3AW’s fiercely loyal listeners were put through 15 minutes of Sydney-sider panache this morning (of all days!) as Nine Radio beamed 2GB into Melbourne following a technical error.

Dr Mumbo knows Melbourne. And Dr Mumbo knows Melbournians don’t like change.

The age-old rivalry between the two cities has each stuck in their ways, for better or for worse, so nothing could be worse than having to put up with anyone but “one of our own” in the morning.

Regular listeners of Melbourne radio legend, Neil Mitchell’s morning show were already dealing with his absence and replacement by Tony Jones when they were treated to a stark wakeup from Ray Hadley around 9am today.

Hadley: Live and direct into Melbourne

Dr Mumbo notes Hadley is an outstanding broadcaster in his own right. But something says he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea down south.

With Sydney’s deal with the A-Leagues to become the new capital of football/soccer threatening Melbourne’s ‘sport capital’ status, and now hijacking Melbourne airwaves with Hadley, what could be next?

There is one thing they can never take away from Melbourne. 16 degrees in December.

But don’t worry, normal service has now resumed on 3AW.

Who knows, Dr Mumbo would think a day out of the headlines for 2GB would’ve been welcomed after the start to this week!
