422,000 metro viewers watch Nine’s Friday night Rugby League Test between Australia and New Zealand

422,000 metro viewers tuned in to Nine on Friday night to watch the Rugby League Test which saw Australia topple New Zealand 26-4 in Wollongong.

Nationally 674,000 viewers watched the match between Australia’s next generation of Rugby stars, making it the eighth most-watched program nationally and the 11th most-watched with metro audiences.

It also helped Nine to a win on Friday night. The network held a 30.0% audience share, and 18.1% share as a channel, over Seven’s 27.1% and 17.0%. ABC held 17.9% and 13.0% and Ten 17.3% and 10.8% to take fourth place overall.

Seven News was the most-watched program with both metro and national audiences (784,000 metro viewers and 1.213m national), above Nine News (739,000 and 942,000). ABC News drew 530,000 metro viewers and 775,000 national.

The most-watched entertainment programming was Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens with 490,000 metro viewers, followed by the ABC’s Gardening Australia and Grantchester, both on 454,000.

Ten’s most-watched program of Friday was The Living Room which drew 377,000 metro viewers, followed by The Project on 319,000.

In the key advertising demographics of 25-45 Nine News was the most-watched, followed by Seven News, whereas Seven News held the top spot with audiences 18-49. 9Go was the most-watched multi-channel overall on 5.0%.
