Prank PatrolThe children’s digital channel has green-lit development of a further 39 half-four episodes of the local version of Canadian franchise Prank Patrol.

“At this point in time the ABC has only entered into a development agreement, the budget and financing of the series is yet to be announced,” co-executive producer Amanda Peppard told Encore.

Melbourne’s activeTV hopes to begin production for the new series in mid-2010.

Executive head of ABC Children’s Television Tim Brooke-Hunt said that the show – in which a team helps a kid pull a prank on someone they know – was a “ratings winner from day one”.

The first 26 episodes debuted when ABC3 was launched in December, and will be released on DVD next month

“A further four DVDs will be released thereafter. The first merchandise product are t-shirts for kids which will be sold though ABC shops from May,  followed by slap bands and key tags in July. More products are in the works across a broad range of categories,” said Peppard.
