Ratings Megaweek Day 2: Seven’s zombie elephant is top show but Nine wins the night

Nine has won the second day running of Australian television’s biggest ratings week of the year.  

After Sunday night’s victory with the debut of Underbelly 3, the network’s more traditional fare of double helpings of Two And A Half Men put it ahead again, although Seven had the top show of the night.

Miracle At The Zoo, featuring Seven’s story of Taronga Zoo’s happy ending with its new born elephant rated an average of 1.5m viewers, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.

Nine had a share of 26.4% to Seven’s 26.2%. For the week to date, Nine has a share of 31% to Seven’s 25.7%.

Meanwhile, Media Watch’s exposure of the Nine cameraman calling an Arab Australian man a “fucking terrorist” was seen by about 600,000 ABC1 viewers.

The ratings battle heats up some more tonight with the first episode of Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent directly up against Nine’s Top Gear.

And Wednesday sees one of the biggest TV nights of the year, with Seven launching World War II blockbuster The Pacific, which was partly fgilmed in Melbourne, Nine’s kicking off the return of hey Hey It’s Saturday. Tjhis will be followed on Thursday by the return of Nine’s Sea Patrol.
