The pairing of Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek on Australian Radio Network’s Mix 102.3 have leapfrogged Nova’s Kate, Timmy and Marty to regain top place in the drive time slot in Adelaide, according to the latest radio ratings survey.

The duo overhauled a three percentage point deficit to take a 15.5 per audience share in the drive slot in survey three, which covers March 8 to April 11 and April 19 to May 23. It was a rise of 3.4 points from the previous survey.

Nova 91.9 took 14.3 per cent share, down from 15 per cent, and saw its drive time trio relegated to second spot.

It was the only noticeable change in an otherwise static period in the Adelaide radio scene which saw Mix extend its lead as the most listened to station.

Mix recorded an overall share of 14.3 per cent, up 0.7 points, while its closest rival, Nova, climbed 0.4 points to 12.4 per cent share. Mix recorded solid growth in all age groups with the exception of the 40-54-year demographic which slipped 1.3 points to a still-healthy 17.8 per cent.

Nova comfortably remained the most popular station with younger listeners, taking a 38.7 share of people aged 10-17 and 30.7 per cent of those aged between 18 and 24, the latter a 5.7 points increase on the previous survey.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit107 – which has struggled to make an impact since rebranding from SAFM last October – was unchanged after again capturing a six per cent share.

In the key breakfast slot, Mix’s Mark Soderstrom and Jodie Oddy remained in front after edging up to 13.7 per cent, well clear of Nova’s 12.1 per cent, up from 11.2 per cent.

Hit107’s breakfast show, whose co-host Dani Pola left earlier this year after just six months, fell from 6.2 per cent to 5.3 per cent.

Over in the AM frequency, ABC891 remained out in front with an overall share of 12.3 per cent, down slightly on the previous survey, which allowed Fiveaa to close the gap after its share climbed 0.9 points to 12 per cent.
