The announcement:

Monday June 27, 2011 –

Adshel has acquired exclusive rights to sell 7-Eleven and DFO advertising panels by entering into a partnership agreement with Phoenix Outdoor. The network adds to Adshel’s already extensive path–to–purchase coverage, allowing advertisers to augment their street furniture buy with prominent point-of-purchase positioning in some of  Australia’s leading retail and convenience locations. The  rights to the contract were previously held by TorchMedia.

The agreement will see Adshel  expand its coverage with scrolling advertising panels outside more than 300 7-Eleven stores across the Eastern Seaboard, as well as a digital panel network in Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) shopping centres across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. A further 100 locations will be added in the next 12 months as the recently purchased Mobil service stations are converted into 7-Eleven stores.

Darren Altman, Executive Director of Phoenix Outdoor comments: “We are very excited to partner with Adshel and bring together these complementary outdoor advertising assets. There is a logical synergy between Adshel’s existing network of advertising panels and our 7-Eleven and DFO locations. Adshel reaches nearly all consumers in Australia’s major cities and through these new locations, advertisers will be able to strengthen their brand message when their target consumers visit one of Australia’s leading convenience stores.”

“We are very confident that this new liaison with Phoenix Outdoor will be a fruitful one, not just for Adshel, but even more so for our advertisers,” says Steve McCarthy, CEO of Adshel. “These panels will   provide advertisers an opportunity to target their messages  not only on  the path-to purchase with our unrivaled street furniture coverage, but also right atthe point-of-purchase, influencing thebuyer where key FMCG and grocery purchase decisions are made.”

The agreement is in place as of  1 July  2011  and panels are available  for purchase within the Adshel network now, with posting commencing on the 4th of July.
