After Banksy, Art Series hotels turn to Warhol fakes

Naked Communications has launched another modern art-themed competition campaign for Art Series Hotels to follow up on its Steal Banksy challenge.

The new challenge – Which Warhol is Warhol’s – sees the hotel chain display nine forged Warhols and one original. The fakes were commissioned from forger Tony Tetro.

Guests staying at the Melbourne hotels will be asked to pick the real artwork. One of the guests who guesses corectly will receive the real Warhol while the fakes will also be given away.

Adam Ferrier, Partner of Naked Communications, said: “We are pleased to be working with Art Series Hotels on this campaign. The issue of forged art is something that both captures the public’s imagination, and is worthy of discussion.”

The campaign includes elements of social media, experiential, digital and print advertising. The Steal Banksy Twitter account created for the previous campaign when visitors were challenged to snatch an artwork without detection has been repurposed and now tweets as @whichwarhol.
