AGL shows how ‘Dennis’ and ‘Jenny’ can save energy

An AGL brand campaign about how people can reduce their energy bills brings back characters Jenny and Dennis in two television commercials by GPY&R Melbourne.

In the two 30 second ads “Jenny” is featured as the neighbourhood’s table tennis “superstar” and “Dennis” as the “leader of an interplanetary army”.

As “Dennis” is shown fully engrossed in a video game, the narrator says it would be a shame for him to have to sacrifice his destiny, or for “Jenny” to give up Tuesday’s night matches to save energy.

The ads promote the My AGL IQ free online energy monitoring tool for customers and AGL Smarter Living solutions that include in-store advice, home service and an online store for energy efficiency related products.

“From a creative point of view, we’ve used Jenny and Dennis again because of the feedback from customers that they really associated with their everyday lives. They are normal everyday people, just trying to save energy and continue to do the things they love,” said Mark Brownfield, AGL general manager of marketing and retail sales.

“Strategically, we arrived at this campaign by looking to get the message to our customers that the way to make the maximum savings on your energy bills was not only to have a competitive energy plan, but also a focus on how much energy you use. In this campaign, Jenny and Dennis show us how two of our latest offers, AGL Smarter Living solutions and My AGL IQ, can help you reduce your energy usage and make savings on your energy bills.”

The campaign also runs across press and online media.
