AIMIA elects new national president

AIMA inducts a new board and appoints Simon Goodrich as its national president. The announcement:

Following the recent AIMIA national committee elections, the new AIMIA board was inducted on Wednesday June 23rd, 2010. Following long-standing AIMIA President Guys Gadney’s decision to stand down from the role, elections were held by the board resulting in the appointment of Simon Goodrich, Managing Director of Portable and former President of AIMIA Victoria, as the new AIMIA National President. The AIMIA board is the governing body for Australia’s peak digital media industry association.

“I look forward to continuing the great work that Guy Gadney did in leading AIMIA over the past four years. I am keen to continue to make AIMIA relevant in the ever changing digital industries. This will happen by ensuring we continue to provide outstanding services to our members as well as capitalising on emerging industries as they form” said new AIMIA National President Simon Goodrich. “The next few years will see digital become more prevalent in our daily lives, the roll out of high speed broadband and the continued adoption of digital services by all facets of business. I am keen to see AIMIA play a part in this and provide greater opportunities for our members to participate in this growing economy”.

Outgoing AIMIA President and Director of The Project Factory Guy Gadney noted, “AIMIA runs the longest-standing digital media awards in the world, runs the most events of any digital media organization in Australia, and has the best and most engaged group of members I have ever met. It has been a privilege to work with AIMIA CEO John Butterworth and the Board to build up AIMIA. I am confident that Simon has exactly the sort of energy that’s needed to take AIMIA to the next level.”

At the same board meeting the following office bearers were also elected:

•Vice President – Peter Bray, General Manager and Director of Digital, The Brand Shop; former President of AIMIA NSW

•Treasurer – Ken Reid, Partner, Information, Communications & Entertainment, KPMG

•Secretary – Mark Bamford, Partner, TressCox Lawyers
