Airbnb appoints Daniel Gervais to lead ANZ marketing

Daniel Gervais, Airbnb’s ANZ brand marketing manager, has been promoted to head of marketing for Australia and New Zealand to replace global and local lead Ben Hallam.

Hallam, who has taken a customer engagement role at Shangri-la hotels, joined Airbnb as local head of marketing in August 2016 before adding the global position to his remit at the beginning of this year

Gervais joined AirBnB in 2013

Sam McDonagh, Airbnb’s country Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said in a statement: “We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Daniel Gervais as our head of marketing for Australia and New Zealand at Airbnb. Daniel has been with Airbnb since 2013 and was one of the first employees in our Sydney team.

Before joining Airbnb in 2013, Gervais had worked in the hotel and hospitality industry after graduating from the University of Queensland in 2011.

McDonagh concluded: “We’d like to thank Ben Hallam for his contribution to the Airbnb family, in particular in leading Airbnb’s efforts supporting Australian marriage equality in 2017 through the Until We All Belong campaign. We wish Ben all the best in his future endeavours.”

Prior to joining Airbnb, Hallam was a group director for the Coca-Cola account at Ogilvy Sydney. He has also worked with Young & Rubicam and Publicis in both Sydney and Singapore.
