An epic wait for an epic Tourism Australia ad
In the 16 months since DDB was appointed to the Tourism Australia account, many outside observers would probably have expected to see a big global ad or two by now.
But apart from the Baz Luhrman-driven tie-ins with Australia, the movie, all has been relatively quiet.
It sounds like the drought nearly ended. But according to today’s Australian Financial Review’s Rear Window column, the arrival of former Qantas boss Geoff Dixon on the board of Tourism Australia has changed the dynamic. The paper says a new campaign was put to the most recent board meeting. It reports: “Dixon was the sole dissenting voice among the directors, but that was enough to send the agencies back to the drawing board.”
What about a choir of Aussie kids that travels the world singing about Australia?
