Andrew Denton is TV’s biggest drawcard

In an encouraging sign for champions of quality Australian television, one of its cleverest presenters has the greatest star power, according to leaked survey results.

Andrew Denton, presenter, until last year, of the ABC’s Enough Rope, and one of the brains behind ad show The Gruen Transfer, is the TV face who rates most highly on Q Scores, according to today’s Daily Telegraph.

The Q Scores are an attempt to put a qualitatve measure on what viewers think of the onscreen talent.

Other than movie star Hugh Jackman, Denton rates most highly, with a score of 30.

The Q Scores scale is one measure that programmers take into account before the TV ratings season, which begins for 2009 in a fortnight’s time. Denton is currently working on a new series of The Gruen Transfer for the ABC, alogn with an advertising sitcom, provisionally called 30 Seconds, for pay TV.
