Anneliese Douglass leaves Initiative ‘to run Unilever at Mindshare’
Anneliese Douglass, the national strategy director at Initiative, is reportedly moving to Mindshare to run Unilever, an account she ran during her time at UM.
Mindshare won the Unilever business in February after a three-way pitch involving PHD and Douglass’s current employer, replacing UM.
Douglass joined Initiative in September 2010. At UM, she was client service director on Unilever, before being promoted to strategy director.
Mindshare CEO James Greet would not comment on the news, while Initiative boss Tracie Michael was unavailable for comment as Mumbrella went to press.
Wow!
All the best Anneliese.

Congratulations Anneliese, Mindshare and Unilever.
The Unilever business has a history of having some of the best media minds running the account.
But, I don’t get it. If Unilever wants Anneliese to run their business, why didn’t they just keep it at UM all those years ago, when, ahem, Anneliese was running it there?
We clients are funny sometimes.

Congrats to Mindshare on appointing Ms Douglas…one of the best in the biz.
And Jimmy…I’m sure you know, clients make these sorts of decisions for all sorts of reasons. An account as big as Unilever is never about the relationship with one person. There’s a lot of money and fine detail that goes into such a move.

Rachel – I agree. There’s more to it than one person. At the same time, I have seen (large, sophisticated) clients threaten to sack an agency unless the agency changes the (Group Account Director) person heading the account.

Hilarious. Back to the old comfort zone, huh? I guess a national strategy director is a tough gig.
