Founder and group CEO at public relations agency One Green Bean and creative agency Host, Anthony Freedman, has been announced as the chairman of Havas Group Australia and New Zealand.

Freedman started One Green Bean in 2007 and creative agency Host seven years earlier in 2000 and has remained as the CEO of both companies since launching. Havas acquired a 51% stake in the agencies in 2011.

Freedman said: “We have ambition for significant growth fuelled by closer collaboration between our agencies”

He will oversee teams including Havas Sydney, Havas Melbourne, Havas New Zealand, Havas Media, Host, One Green Bean and Red Agency.

The shuffle will see Laura Aldington become CEO of Host Australia

Freedman will work with five CEOs across the agency, including Anthony Gregorio, Havas group CEO; Mike Wilson, group CEO at Havas Media; James Wright, CEO of Red Agency; Carl Ratcliff, One Green Bean Australia CEO; and Host’s Aldington.

Wright has also assumed more responsibility growing his role to include chief commercial officer of the Havas Group.

Freedman said in a statement: “I believe the Together strategy provides clients with an answer to the fragmentation surrounding audiences, media, and agencies. Anthony, Mike and James have made exceptional progress with the Villages in Sydney and Melbourne and I look forward to working closely with them, along with Laura and Carl, to help build further success.

“We have ambition for significant growth fuelled by closer collaboration between our agencies, allowing us to leverage the true scale of the group in Australia and New Zealand. We are also planning a number of investments with particular focus on data, content, brand tech and healthcare,” he said.

Mike Amour, CEO Havas APAC Group, said: “This is an exciting time for Havas and we are committed to creating a real challenger to the established larger players in Australia and New Zealand, with a more progressive, more flexible and more client-centric offering.”

The appointment comes as Havas aims to improve its Together strategy and consolidate all of Havas’ offerings to one location.
