john_McKay_apolloApollo Marketing, one of Australia’s biggest promo agencies, is to launch a Melbourne office, the company has announced.

With offices in Sydney and Auckland, the agency is a regular winner at Australia’s Star Awards, run by the Australasian Promotional Marketing Association.

Apollo is part of Aegis Media which bought the Mitchell Communication Group last year.

The new Melbourne office will be headed by GM John McKay whose previous roles included most recently nearly two years as GM of the Heritage Golf and Country Club and 12 years with Crown Casino in Melbourne as creative services manager.

At Crown McKay managed all promotional and sponsorship activity for clients including Diageo, Toyota, BMW and Vodafone. He has managed activations for major events including World Cup Soccer, Olympic Games, cricket, rugby and the Australian Grand Prix.

Melbourne based clients for Apollo include Foster’s, Coca-Cola, National Foods, Nestle Peters and 7-Eleven

Luke Littlefield, CEO of Aegis Media Pacific, said: “The expansion of Apollo to Melbourne is an exciting step and we plan to grow the business rapidly to ultimately match the Apollo teams in Sydney and Auckland, which each have around 25 staff. With John McKay as General Manager and a very talented team in place initially, Apollo enters the Melbourne market in an extremely strong position.”

The launch team of five also includes group account director Karen Godfrey and account director Aisha Krupski, along with two account managers.
