Billie Eilish has a new album out, and — as is the recent custom — you can see it not only at the top of the Albums chart, but also filling ten spots in the first 23 in the Singles chart. Thanks for not doing a double album, Billie.
The US superstar also managed to bump Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Departments off number one, after spending four weeks in pole position. Swift has slipped to #2, with Olivia Rodrigo’s two albums, Guts and Sour, sitting at #3 and #4, due to her recent Aussie tour news.
The Weeknd and SZA sit at #5 and #6, and were both vaulted up the charts recently due to Aussie tours (The Weeknd didn’t even need to come, announcing then cancelling), while the highest new entry — technically a re-entry, given its chart success 40 years ago — is the Hoodoo Gurus’ debut album Stoneage Romeos, which got the 40-year vinyl reissue treatment last week.
Highest (actual) new entry is Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash’s new album, Orgy Of The Damned, at #14 – ahead of Zayn’s new record, Room Under The Stairs at #16.
Man, hasn’t Zayn fallen from chart favour since his One Direction days? Oh, and Maroon 5’s best of is sitting at #20, for reasons I refuse to find out about.
Over on the singles chart, Eilish is taking over ten of the top 23 spots, as outlined above – but only managed #5 as her highest-debut, with Lunch (the song she made a clip for and is actually pushing as a single) ahead of Chihiro at #7, and Birds Of A Feather at #9.
Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman has climbed to #1 in its fourth week in the chart, knocking last week’s #1 from Post Malone and Morgan Wallen back to #2.
Shaboozey and Sabrina Carpener hold #3 and #4 respectively, while the highest non-Billie debut is way down at #39, for Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma, by Luke Combs – which is from the soundtrack of Twisters.
