ASICS appoints Ideaworks to bolster digital presence
ASICS has appointed Ideaworks to its digital account as the clothing and footwear sports brand prepares to boost its digital marketing activity.
The agency’s brief will also include ASICS’ Onitsuka Tiger fashion-based brand and localisation work in New Zealand.
ASICS has previously worked with a number of agencies and has now consolidated the business into Ideaworks following a pitch with several undisclosed agencies.
The pitch process was led by ASICS marketing manager Sam Chew, online project specialist Tara O’Malley and the company’s manager – information systems James Stone.
Aden Hepburn, Ideaworks head of digital and creator of blog Digital Buzz, said: “Asics have the opportunity to dominate their category online in Australia and we are currently developing some really innovative digital work that will be released over the coming year, including new web platforms, getting right into mobile and social amongst many other things.”
Ideaworks, the retail marketing specialist agency part of WPP’s Y&R Brands, also works for clients including Big W, McDonald’s, Optus and LG, Bausch & Lombe and Westfield.
Shame Ideaworks aren’t “getting right into mobile” with their own site – a blank black page on an iPhone or iPad

Yes I have to agree with the other comment as I tried to check out their site and saw nothing but a blank black page (before I found this article in fact).
It was a shame as most of my browsing is now done via my iPhone.
Maybe with the iPad crazy saturation of the market they are predicting we might see sites that are unviewable on the media quickly converted to a format that can be viewed.

Here’s hoping it will actually be ‘refreshing’ retail
