The announcement:

Audi becomes exclusive car partner for the 2014 Sydney Festival

In the lead-up to the opening of Sydney Festival 2014 on 9 January 2014, Sydney Festival is thrilled to announce that Audi has become the exclusive car partner for the Festival.

Audi will have a strong presence in the greatly expanded Festival Village in Hyde Park and will be launching the much anticipated A3 Sedan in January 2014.

This vehicle will be showcased at the Festival Village as part of an installation that involves contemporary airbrush artist Daniel Christopher Willans. Willans’ love of murals, in particular of the Australian landscape, will provide the perfect addition to the beach feel of the Festival Village. The creation of the artwork will be a visual spectacle for Sydney Festival guests as the A3 Sedan acts as the perfect canvas for the airbrush technique.

“We are very excited to welcome Audi to Sydney Festival, a brand that continually supports culture and the arts in Australia,” said Malcolm Moir, Sydney Festival’s Head of Development.

Andrew Doyle, Audi Australia’s Managing Director says the Sydney Festival is a well-known and loved community event, and a worthy extension of the company’s cultural sponsorship activities in Australia.

“Being involved in the community is important to Audi,” Mr Doyle said. “It gives us a way to say our thanks to the people who have supported the growth of our brand in Australia, and it’s also an engaging and interactive way of showcasing one of our most important new models in the new Festival Village. We’re excited to be a part of a great cultural activity.”

Festival goers who take up the opportunity to experience the A3 Sedan at Festival Village will also have the chance to win some great artistic prizes. Each day, Audi will be giving away two pairs of tickets to a Sydney Festival performance at either the Spiegeltent or Circus Ronaldo. There will also be a major prize of a trip for two to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania. The trip includes two nights’ accommodation at the MONA pavilions, a private tour around MONA and the winery, dinner for two at The Source restaurant and a two-day loan of the brand-new Audi A3 Sedan.

A brand new model for Audi, the all new A3 Sedan is compact and sporty and showcases the striking and innovative design for which the luxury German brand is known. Featuring lightweight construction for greater efficiency and performance, the A3 Sedan boasts a wide, muscular body and flared wheel arches for an imposing road presence and all the boot space of a sedan in a compact package.

The A3 Sedan’s interior is unparalleled, with its minimalist design, luxury-class materials and progressive technology. An advanced infotainment system with intuitive operation logic is standard, and includes a high-tech, electrically retractable colour screen integrated into the dashboard.

With S tronic transmission, quattro® permanent all-wheel drive, and efficient cylinder on demand technology, the Audi A3 Sedan is versatile and dynamic to drive, while a new range of powerful engines offer excellent fuel economy.

Sydney Festival 2014 runs from 9 to 26 January 2014.
