Australian digital agency Miroma Project Factory opens an office in LA

Australian digital development studio, Miroma Project Factory, has expanded into the US.

The announcement:

Award-winning Australian digital development studio, Miroma Project Factory (MPF) has set the stage to achieve new heights with its expansion to the U.S. The new office is based in Los Angeles, California and will be led by business director Askia Underwood – a connector, collaborator and tenured strategist responsible for charting new territory in immersive, experiential digital product development throughout the U.S.

“Miroma Project Factory is an outcomes driven digital agency that combines a unique set of skills. For over fourteen years the team have blended behaviour change, leadership principles and accomplished application of interactive creative with demonstrated measurable benefits,” states Marc Boyan, founder and CEO of the Miroma Group. “The new office in LA leverages synergies between U.S. and Australian users with a natural extension to culture and behaviour.”

MPF’s foundation is rooted in health, wellbeing and gamification, a unique blend of behavioural change driven interventions with a focus on gamification to drive outcome. MPF’s initial focus was on the development of virtual worlds for a range of clients, including Telstra, ABC, and Accenture U.S. Its earliest work is found in Second Life, one of the first iterations of the metaverse. MPF was also one of the first companies to innovate at the intersection of digital and television.

MPF’s Global CEO, Katherine Robinson said, “We are excited about building revolutionary products that support and evolve the experience of individuals, companies and the communities around us. As a global digital development studio building products and experiences to connect and improve people’s lives, the launch of Miroma Project Factory’s first U.S.-based office is an integral step in the company’s growth trajectory.”

MPF prides itself on building sticky products by using a sophisticated approach to human behaviour economics to deliver calls to action, improve outcomes and connect people in new ways through technology. MPF foundational clients in the U.S. include LAIKA Studios, JUST Water, and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, a museum exhibit chronicling the life, assassination, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

“Miroma Project Factory has been a dream to work with on the development of our Digital Engagement Strategy, including our new website. They are helpful and responsive as well as innovative and effective. Their team has been so supportive as they’ve helped guide us through the process. We are thrilled for their upcoming expansion into the U.S. and look forward to a long working relationship,” stated Kimberly Camuel Bryan, chief philanthropy officer, Sixth Floor Museum.

One of the first embodiments to implement gamification to deliver behaviour change outcomes, Quit Now: My QuitBuddy, was designed and developed by the studio for the Australian Department of Health to help people quit smoking. Recent launches include LIV, a web and mobile care-at-home platform aimed at helping people living with dementia remain at home longer; an Epic Games MegaGrant teaches children the importance of composting and the ecosystem of soil care; along with augmented reality experiences for IMAX, JUST Water and Colossal.
