Australian Electoral Commission appoints Horizon Communication Group ahead of upcoming Federal election

Independent communications agency, Horizon Communication Group, has announced a range of state and Federal government agency engagements along with new appointments to support the accounts.

Horizon’s renewed contract with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) will see the company deliver PR services in the lead up to the upcoming Federal election, which is expected in the next 12 months, along with media training of the commission’s state executive and public awareness officers.

Horizon’s new hires: Annika Postlethwaite, Alex Whitaker and Alice Johnson

The agency, which rebranded in 2014, renewed its multi-year engagement with the Australian Electoral Commission, having previously run education campaigns for the agency on voting changes.

At the state level, Horizon has been appointed to work on the Love Food Hate Waste campaign for the NSW Environment Protection Authority, aimed at reducing household and business food wastage.

The agency has also been appointed to the rosters of NSW Local Land Services, Soil Conservation Services NSW and North Coast Local Land Services to provide communication activities including marketing communication plans and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Outside the government arena, Horizon will be working with gut health specialists Microba, to educate the Australian public about the important role microbiome plays in sustaining a healthy gut.

“These new and renewing clients and our recent award wins are testament to the high quality of Horizon’s services”, said Justin Flaherty, Horizon Communication Group CEO.

Following the wins, Horizon recently hired three new team members: Annika Postlethwaite as account executive, Alice Johnson as senior account manager and Alex Whitaker as account manager.
