Australian Open and Snap partner for exclusive content

The Australia Open 2021 and Snap have announced a partnership to release exclusive content on Snapchat’s Discover platform.

The announcement:

Game, set, match! With the Australian Open hitting the courts this week for its 109th edition, there have already been some nail-biting sets and drama on and off the court.

For the many Aussies unable to make it to Melbourne Park this year, fret not, as Australian Open has partnered with Snapchat to provide Snapchatters with exclusive content on Discover. Throughout the tournament, Australian Open is releasing daily highlights summarising the action from every match of the tournament, and behind-the-scenes content not available anywhere else.

The AO 2021 Show is available on Snapchat Discover. Discover is a closed, curated platform featuring content from a select set of partners who ensure Snapchatters are both informed and entertained.

In addition to the show, the Australian Open has worked with Snapchat to launch an augmented reality Face Lens that transports you courtside to the Rod Laver Arena. Once the Lens is activated, Snapchatters can play a fun game of tennis by raising their eyebrows to hit a tennis ball back across the screen.

“This is certainly an exciting partnership. We are thrilled to be working with the Australian Open to bring these daily highlights to our Snapchat community on Discover. Based on a recent research, there is a strong engagement among Australian Snapchatters when it comes to sports. They’re using Snapchat as a second screen to enhance their sporting experience – viewing and sharing content with friends in a meaningful and engaging way. As in-stadium marketing opportunities are limited, it’s important for brands and content creators to understand the opportunity Snapchat can offer to sports advertisers on their second Snapchat screen,” shares Snap’s General Manager for ANZ, SEA and HK, Kathryn Carter.
