Australian writer/director chosen for Cinefondation Residence

Australian writer and director Sam Holst is one of six people selected to attend the Cinefondation Residence in Paris, beginning today.

The announcement:

Sam Holst has been selected as one of six international filmmakers to attend the Cannes Film Festival’s Cinéfondation Résidence.

Every year the Cinéfondation welcomes select writer / directors from around the world to develop their first or second fictional feature film project.

The participants are offered a place of residence in the heart of Paris, a personalised programme accompanying the writing of their scripts and a collective of forums with film industry professionals. The selection is based on the quality of the chosen filmmakers’ short films or first feature film, the feature film project being written and the candidates’ motivation.

Holst’s short film Meathead premiered In Competition at the 64th Cannes Film Festival and won the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film in Generation at the 62nd Berlin Film Festival.

While in residence he will develop original feature project Last Autumn.

The session runs from March to July 2014 in Paris, France.
