#AustraliansForUnderwood: Netflix launches political campaign for House of Cards’ new season
Netflix Australia and New Zealand has kicked off a campaign for House of Cards, pushing for Frank Underwood, president of the United States as seen in the show, to become Australia’s new leader.
The campaign, which launched on Twitter after Treasurer Scott Morrison’s Federal Budget speech, shows an Australian farmer, played by Australian actor Rob Carlton, talking about the Budget announcements, how the cost of living and house prices have gone up, and how there’s no spirit of having “a fair go”.
He goes on to say Australia needs some “real leadership” – “a leader, who will not yield.”
The House of Cards music starts to play before the ad reveals a political campaign, #AustraliansForUnderwood.
The ad has launched in the lead up to the Netflix Original’s season five launch, which is expected to drop at the end of the month.
Netflix’s local campaign has been well received on Twitter since its launch.
