Avalon Airport, Tourism Australia and Tourism New Zealand to speak at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit

CEO of Australia’s newest international airport, Avalon Airport’s Justin Giddings, will reveal the story behind its recent substantial growth at the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit on April 11 in Sydney.

Late last year Air Asia X began flying regular commercial flights between Avalon and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while it also launched its new industrial hub with Cotton On group as the anchor tenant.

Giddings has been at the helm of Avalon Airport during a significant period of expansion

Giddings will discuss the strategy behind the growth and why now is the right time for the airport to expand, almost 15 years after launching passenger flights.

The making of Dundee will be revealed by those directly involved

A special panel featuring the key players involved in Tourism Australia’s Dundee campaign has also been confirmed. General manager of creative, content and campaigns at Tourism Australia, Susan Coghill, will be joined by Revolver managing director, Michael Ritchie, Thinkerbell co-founder Jim Ingram, and One Green Bean CEO Claire Salvetti in discussing the ideation and execution of the now famous campaign.

Moderated by Mumbrella’s Abigail Dawson, the panel will discuss the major challenges and opportunities when it came to thinking up and creating such a large campaign with a multitude of different executions.

Tourism New Zealand’s #KiaOraNZ will be put in the spotlight at the summit

Also confirmed is Tourism New Zealand social media lead, Bhavika Rambhai, and Genero managing director for AUNZ, Harry Preston, who will elaborate on the tourism body’s #KiaOraNZ campaign.

Tourism New Zealand launched the campaign in late 2017, enlisting filmmakers from around the world who had visited New Zealand to share their personal and emotive stories about their experience.

The success of the campaign has led to a significant extension and Rambhai and Preston will take the stage to explain how the campaign was created, the steps they took to generate the content and the impact it had.

Mumbrella’s Travel Marketing Summit takes place on April 11 at the Four Seasons in Sydney. Earlybird tickets are on sale now.

Entry is via the website where you can also download the criteria. Last year’s major winners included Trafalgar, Contiki, Edelman, Mount Hotham Resort Management Board the Walshe Group and more.
