Bauer publisher Peter Holder to depart

elleBauer Media Group publisher Peter Holder who was charged with the relaunch of Elle magazine last year is to leave the company after 11 years.

Holder was made publisher of Bauer Media’s joint publications with Hearst Media International (HMI) in late 2012 which gave him oversight on Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Madison and Cosmo extensions Bride and Pregnancy magazines.

Matthew Stanton, CEO of Bauer Media, is seeking a publisher to fill the role as Holder departs to pursue other interests.

Holder joined ACP Magazines in 2003 as founding editor of Men’s Style magazine, and then assumed publishing responsibility across the men’s group of titles, before going on to publish titles including Woman’s Day, TV Week, Empire and Zoo.

He said: “I have spent an extraordinary decade with this company and worked with many talented and highly professional people across some of the biggest brands in publishing.

“However, after much consideration, I came to the conclusion early this year that it is time for new things – and I’m now looking forward to the next stage of my career, however that unfolds.

“While I am excited about the future and spending time with my family, it will be a sad day when I leave.”

Stanton added: “Peter is working with me to ensure a smooth transition for the joint venture and the company in general.

“I know this has been a difficult decision for Peter and we will miss him as he has been a well-respected and important contributor to our business. We thank him for his strong contribution and wish him all the very best for the future.”

The date of Holder’s departure has not yet been determined.
