BBC Breakfast calls out Nine’s Today Show for copycat ad
The BBC has called out Nine on Twitter for the strong resemblance between a new Today Show promo and one created by the UK broadcaster in 2016.
A video posted to the BBC Breakfast Twitter page notes several similarities between the two ads.

The uncannily similar promos both feature a woman turning on her TV, followed by her son – who in both instances is called Jack – burning his toast.
The ads both feature the show’s presenters speaking to the family through the TV, and include a mention of how increasing petrol prices are affecting “your commute”.

Nine’s version:
The BBC ad was first shown in spring 2016 to promote its breakfast show with hosts Dan Walker and Louise Minchin, whereas the Nine promo was released this year in order to promote Georgie Gardner joining Karl Stefanovic on The Today Show.
Gardner was announced as former host Lisa Wilkinson’s replacement back in November.
Wilkinson abruptly left the Today Show for Ten’s The Project back in October, after she failed to reach an agreement with Nine.
Mumbrella has approached Nine for comment.
Easy to get caught these days on the other side of the World!

There’s not much that hasn’t been pinched from OS in Oz TV. Reality, quiz, pseudo docs shows; even the brekkie bull****. It’s even been thus. We are we surprised? Great to see the Beeb sticking the knife in about plagiarism.
