Beam Group replaces Ray Noble with Trent Chapman as head of marketing

new jim beamSpirits company Beam Global Australia has promoted Trent Chapman, its brand director for Canadian Club, to marketing director across all of its brands leaving the future of Ray Noble up in the air.

The move comes as the American-owned company prepares for its acquisition by Japanese liquor distribution company Santory, which will be finalised in the next 60 to 90 days.

Chapman’s promotion comes off the back of his success as brand director for Canadian Club as he has doubled the case volume for the brand since taking on the role two years ago.

“We are very proud of him and looking forward to how he’s going to lead the business,” a Beam Global Australia spokesman said.

In his new role, effective immediately, Chapman takes the lead on Beam’s flagship brands Canadian Club and Jim Beam.

Ray Noble, who has led marketing for Jim Beam Bourbon for the last eight years “will be looking at what the future options are for him in the business”, the spokesman said, confirming further changes to the marketing department and possibly redundancies.

“We are maximising the marketing structure and there will be some adjustments,” he added.

Clarkson Hine, senior vice president of communications for Beam Global said: “Beam Australia has recently reviewed the structure of its business. As a result of this review, the Australia business is realigning its structure to become more agile, closer to the needs of customers and consumers, and even better positioned to win in the marketplace. Beam Australia is sharply focused on outperforming in 2014 and beyond in partnership with CCA.

“This review was undertaken in the ordinary course of business, and is unrelated to the proposed transaction announced this week. Beyond that, we have no individual personnel announcements to make.”
