Ben and Liam to host breakfast in Adelaide on Nova 91.9

The current hosts of Triple J’s breakfast program, Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton, have announced their new radio home.

The duo will front breakfast in Adelaide for Nova’s 91.9 from next year.

‘Ben and Liam’ kick off their new gig next year

Nova breakfast in Adelaide has been helmed by Dylan Lewis and Hayley Pearson. Lewis announced he was leaving in September, with Pearson following suit soon after.

Nova currently has a 10.5% share in breakfast in Adelaide, placing it behind Australian Radio Network’s Mix 102.3 (12.3%), and Southern Cross Austereo’s Triple M (11.5%) and Hit 107 (9.7%).

Harvey and Stapleton on Triple J have a 5.9% share, up 0.4 points from the previous survey.

They are now returning to their roots in Adelaide – where they kicked off their radio careers at community station Fresh 92.7.

Paul Jackson, Nova Entertainment’s chief programming and marketing officer, said Harvey and Stapleton had proven themselves to be top-class radio broadcasters.

“We’ve been watching their progress for some time and with recent announcements around our Adelaide breakfast show, the perfect opportunity has arisen for us to bring the boys back to their hometown of Adelaide. The guys have great chemistry, tell great stories and are laugh out loud funny. I’m sure the Nova Adelaide listeners are going to love them,” he said.

Harvey said the duo had wanted to work at Nova since they’d started in radio.

“We can’t wait to start the next phase of our careers back home in God’s Country. Have they finished the road works on South Road yet? Has anyone driven onto the O Barn in a while? Is there a long line at the West End factory water refill station? I need to go home to answer these questions,” he said.

Stapleton added: “We had an absolute blast at Triple J and still can’t believe they hired us. Don’t know how Nova have either, but hey we’ve signed now (suckers). We’re really looking forward to coming home to Adelaide. At night we dream of giant silver balls, even larger Scottish men on the side of motels and Tony Modra’s right foot. You can take the boys out of Adelaide, but you can’t take Adelaide out of the boys.”

Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett will take over on Triple J.

Ben and Liam will be hosting the Mumbrella neXt Awards on December 10. Tickets and information about the evening, and the half-day conference proceeding the event, can be found via this link.
