Ben’s 36,326 friends
Dr Mumbo never thought there would be a time when he felt sorry for the multimillionaire Ben Elton.
Not even when the ratings came in yesterday.
But that moment has now arrived.
Last night’s repeat of Live From Planet Earth on digital channel Go had 36,326 viewers.
And no, the comma isn’t in the wrong place.
Isn’t that pretty good for Go?

Hi Tom,
Depends how you look at it. If you look at the top 50 digital shows yesterday, ABC3’s The Wannabes was 50th with 76,000.
For Go, V did best with 150,000 – earlier in the night but still nearly five times bigger. then Ben Elton

Did Ben Elton do something to you Tim?
I’m thinking he must have done a sketch on you or maybe picked you out in the crowd and picked on you at a live show…..
There has to be bigger and more positive stories to run than reporting on the ratings of a show that aired on GO last night surely?

@YAWN: i think ben elton has ‘done something’ to us all by producing such a woeful, unfunny show. something as crass and terrible as ‘live from planet earth’ deserves everything it gets.

Are these figures accurate or are they picked out of thin air? I didn’t know there was a tv channel called go..?
I’ll have to watch the episode online to see what all the fuss was about…

By mistake I stumbled onto this show and watched the first 90 seconds or so.
Yes, my reactions are a bit slow, must keep remote closer.
Question: was that ratings number taken at the start of the show, or the end?

Talking of awkward, dull shows, does anyone know why Peter Weir didn’t front up- as advertised- on the Adam Hills show?

I don’t know which of the two new “variety/comedy” shows is duller.
Elton’s or Hills’. I at least gave Hills two weeks, i didn’t return to Eltons after Wk 1.
Thank god for illegal broadband downloads of current overseas shows. I can pick and choose. I am my own programmer……and no ads!

The first episode was woeful – the school teacher skit was particularly unfunny – but it was worth another try.
Compared to other shows, it’s clever and topical, as opposed to the mean spirited drivel being churned out that passes for comedy drama and variety these days.
Plus, it was good to see Tim Minchin and even Fiona O’Loughlin!
I’m willing to watch it again next week (the repeat on Go is good because it’s on when there’s nothing else on)
