Ben Shepherd back in agencyland at dentsu

Ben Shepherd has joined dentsu as chief investment officer across its media agencies. Shepherd will be joining the business from January 16.

He becomes the second senior appointment by new CEO Danny Bass in two weeks, following Fiona Johnston’s appointment last week as chief client officer.

This marks Shepherd’s return to agencies, after a year out at Bain & Company, departing Thinkerbell in mid-2021 after just one year.

Shepherd joined Thinkerbell in July 2020 from CHE Proximity also spending just over a year at the agency. Prior to this, Shepherd held roles at PwC Australia and OMD.

As part of the appointment, Melanie McDonald, current general manager of investment has been made chief commercial officer.

Bass said: “Ben’s ability to cut through and make the complicated simple makes him the perfect choice to join our business.

With the media landscape changing rapidly, and clients looking for simplicity, Ben will be able to identify and generate value across all media opportunities, helping our clients navigate the never before and grow.”

On his appointment, Shepherd said: “I am beyond excited to be joining dentsu. He commences in mid-January.
