Best of the Week: Should TV ditch the overnights? No!
Welcome to Best of the Week, kicked off before first light at Sisters Beach, Tasmania. It was a night of furniture scraping around the deck, while winds rattled the doors and rain hammered the roof.
It’s good to be back where the people are less awful than the corporate types you’ll meet in the Melbourne Qantas lounge. After nearly 14 years on Twitter, I had my first fully viral tweet on Wednesday.
Excellent Best of the Week entry Tim.
I don’t work in the media industry myself but do greatly enjoy reading Steve Molk’s overnight Australian TV ratings on TV Blackbox.
I dare say at the rate Australian media shares are falling this year alone you might be writing a sequel to Media Unmade in 2025 instead of 2030 as the decline of some companies in Australian media is accelerating.
In other news, has The Age/SMH media writer Zoe Samios been reading Unmade, specifically the Unmade Media Index? I’m sure this will get a mention in Start the Week:

Thanks for the kind words, Anthony!
And in fairness to Zoe, although she covered similar ground, she also added the new information that Macquarie changed its recommendation on the sector to underweight, last week, which I has missed.
Cheers – Tim
