Nine’s trusty nerd sitcom Big Bang Theory pulled in 1.09m viewers with last night’s new episode.

The show – one of four weekly airings of Big Bang Theory by Nine – was sixth for the night and second behind Seven’s Packed To The rafters in its timeslot.

It out-rated Ten’s Navy procedural NCIS which had 655,000 viewers.

But the sitcom fell behind a repeat of the ABC’s New Tricks (757,000) which also beat the Ten Navy police procedural, although it did better among 16-49-year-old viewers according to preliminary OzTAM data.

Nine’s A Current Affair (1.031m) and Seven’s Today Tonight (1.016m) were in a tight tussle in the 6.30pm slot, while Seven News (1.195m) beat Nine  News (1.1437m).

However, in Sydney, Nine News walloped Seven News 335,000 to 258,000.

In breakfast Sunrise (383,000) pulled ahead of Today (358,000).

Seven won the night with a 29.3 per cent share, followed by Nine (22.1 per cent). Ten (11.7 per cent) again ran fourth behind ABC1 (12.5 per cent), while SBS One had 3.4 per cent.
