Blue Planet II and Love Actually most-watched entertainment shows on Sunday night

UK imports performed across the board in the Sunday night TV ratings, with Nine’s showing of Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II attracting 527,000 metro viewers while Christmas flick Love Actually pulled in 435,000 viewers for Seven. The two offerings were the most-watched non-news shows of the night.

Nine and Seven’s news offerings shared the top spot on the ratings ladder with 890,000 metro viewers a piece, according to OzTam’s overnight ratings.

Nine’s 40th year special edition of 60 Minutes attracted 777,000 metro viewers, helping the channel to the top spot in overall audience share.

Nine scraped into the top audience share spot with a 20.7% share on its main channel, compared to Seven’s 19.8%. Nine also won on a total network level, with 31.9% compared to Seven’s 29.1%.

Nine’s news show topped the key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Elsewhere, UK drama Sherlock helped ABC get an entertainment show into the top ten for the night, with 367,000 metro viewers. Over on Ten, UK talk show The Graham Norton Show provided 366,000 metro viewers.

The ABC beat Ten on a main channel share level, with 10.9% compared to Ten’s 9.5%. The story was the same on a total network level, with 16.4% of the audience compared to Ten’s 14.1%.
